The projects currently being worked on are:

Prehistory and the Roman period.

The first phase of this new project is exploring the middle Test valley and Dun valleys. Members are working on reviewing and collating the extensive published material  on  archaeological investigations in the area as a first step. This is an informal group, and new members will be very welcome to come and join in this task, and also contribute their own ideas. Just drop in to any Tuesday evening workshop session for a chat!

History of the Plaza and RAODS

A project of much more recent history, about the building, the cinema, and the history of Romsey Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society from its earliest days. Drop in to the basement research workshop sessions to find out more, and to see if you would like to get involved.

Place Names

This is a planned project that will trace the earliest medieval written references to places within and around Romsey, searching documents like those for example in the cartulary of Winchester College which owned much property in the town.

The Anglo Saxon Project

This has been a major three year long shared project, enable by a generous bequest from the late Christopher Collier, who  worked and published on the period. The project is now in its final stages of writing up what has been learned for publication. However many members have become engrossed in the Anglo Saxon period which was so important in the development of the town we know today and in many ways so mysterious, so that it will undoubtedly remain a topic of continuing exploration.
